Leyland Photographic Society is indebted toJohn and Margaret for their time and expertise in selecting the award winners and acceptances for this exhibition. We also express our gratitude to Wilkinson Cameras for their continuing and valuable sponsorship of this annual event. It would not be possible to stage this competition without Dr. David Hunt the curator of the musuem. who not only makes the venue available to us, but also hangs the prints so expertly. Thanks to you as well David.

The President, Mrs. Felicity Appleton welcomed the Mayor, Councillor Mrs. Kath Beatty and David Parkinson managing director of Wilkinsons Cameras to the official opening .

Mr and Mrs Sixsmith expressed her delight at being asked to judge the Open Invitation Exhibition. They felt that the overall standard was high, particularly so in Natural History, although the quality of Monochrome prints was disappointing as they lacked punch and appeared to have been straight conversions resulting in a flat image. The overall standard was very high and selecting those for the exhibition proved to very difficult. There is only room for 80 prints in the museum.

The winners were superb and would do well in any national exhibition.

First was 'Iris Impressions' by Fiona Ruggles LRPS

Second was 'Road Racers' by Fred Parkinson

Third was 'Water Feature ' by Graham Dean
